Beginning in May 2021, guests at Tuffy’s Bottle Shop and Lounge in Historic Downtown Sanford will be able to enjoy the signature hot chicken sandwiches and smashburgers that have beckoned locals to Winter Park since Swine & Sons opened there in 2015. Husband and wife team Rhys and Alexia Gawlak will add bar snacks to their existing menu to complement Tuffy’s roster of house-made cider, local beer and craft cocktails.
On site, guests will order and pay via their phones or at Swine & Sons’ location in the outdoor beer garden, then receive a text when their food is ready to enjoy in one of Tuffy’s many distinctly designed indoor and outdoor spaces. The newest space at Tuffy’s – which owner Dan St. Pierre finished constructing during the pandemic – is music and event venue Tuffy’s Music Box. Menu items from Swine & Sons will be available during regularly scheduled live music events in the spacious indoor area, which accommodates up to 300 standing guests. As the venue’s exclusive caterer, Swine & Sons will also offer several set menu options for private events.
The second phase of the newest Swine & Sons will include a fully functional, live-fire smokehouse featuring above ground pits where pitmaster Rhys will craft whole-hog barbeque, house-made sausages along with plenty of other “smoking shenanigans.” Plans for the smokehouse also include a weekly Barbecue Brunch, and the area will be available for private dinners as well.
